The Daily Route: 5 people, 5 journeys emmanuelle It's happened to all of us. You get stuck in a traffic jam on the way to work and then you're in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Or perhaps you take the metro, every morning the same faces, imagining their life from their manners, clothing or books they read. It is this journey, from bed to work, that so many people repeat day after day that intrigues me. That moment between A and B, transition space between two places, is the first encounter with the city. For each of us it is unique. Wonderful, stressful, long or twisted....it is part of our day and our impression of the city. A journey often ignored or even forgotten as soon as it's been lived... Can this crucial moment, this first contact with the outside world, form an image of the city? What is the daily landscape? Insignificant space yet so present... The question is there...a little experiment takes shape. 5 people are chosen, all with the same destination (Byward Market, Ottawa) but with different departure points and modes of locomotion. They are each given a camera to document their journey as it is. This is their story.
